OVERVIEW & PURPOSE

To express the faith community’s solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement by acknowledging various denominations’ and traditions’ complicity in sustaining racism and validating white privilege and by historical extension stances and current policies regarding homo/transphobia, misogyny, white American nationalism, single-issue politics, etc.

The proposed prayer is a silent/listening/witnessing prayer in which participants will walk from Temple Emanu-EL to Antioch Baptist Church. Along the way, participants will pause at predetermined locations to pray. In between locations, participants will take on a reflective mood by walking in silence.

We are not truly free unless all are free.

We SUPPORT the Beloved Community’s efforts and campaign in law enforcement accountability

We will witness without comment or respond to what those who are directly affected by racism are saying unless asked

We confess our complicity (individually and institutionally) to the oppression of Black People by what we have done and what we have failed to do

We stand in unequivocal solidarity with Black Lives Matter Movement
