9th International Children’s Festival

April 21, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Bay Area is a microcosm of the national melting pot, a place where people of different ethnicities make more than half of the overall population in the area. The region possesses a rich history, culture and amazing diversity. Each culture brings something different to the mix, and takes from it their own experience.  Bringing these into dialogue with each other advances a conversation about our home, and fosters a just and equitable society.

The International Children’s Festival has been organized as a flagship event with the goal of bringing families together from different world cultures and communities in the Bay Area. More than 8000 people attend the festival that includes traditional dances, performances, arts and crafts, children’s activities and food. We are proud to say the International Children’s Festival has been celebrated for eight years now.

The last festival was held outdoors at the Discovery Meadow Park in San Jose. 22 different groups and ethnicities performed their folk dances with authentic clothing and native songs. Some of the participating cultures were Chinese, Hawaiian, Indian, Mexican, Turkish, and Burmese. While enjoying traditional dances, visitors had the opportunity to taste homemade authentic dishes and desserts from around the world. In addition to dance performances, children enjoyed a circus, magic show, pony rides, balloon twisters, face painting and much more.
