Webinar – Using Non-Violence to Fight Oppression
September 29, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
What started as pockets of unrest and challenge to the status quo is now a far-reaching movement across the United States to put a permanent end to oppression and injustice.
Join Supervisor Dave Cortese, Assembly member Ash Kalra and the Hindu American Foundation for a webinar on how to use non-violence to fight oppression, drawing on the lessons of Mahatma Gandhi and other champions of civil rights.
Samir Kalra, Managing Director of the Hindu American Foundation, will share how the Hindu American Foundation incorporates the Gandhian concept of Ahimsa (non-violence) as a guiding principle in the work they conduct. The HAF lesson plan will be discussed to show how it can be used by educators and parents to empower the youth to examine the world around them and to advocate for equality and peaceful solutions.
