Our guests for the Interreligious Leaders Forum will be Jim Mollerus, Sheltering Lead for the Silicon Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.  He will describe the Red Cross Emergency Sheltering program and how religious communities can assist their own communities as well as the larger community during times of emergency or disaster. There will also be information about issues that oftentimes arise in a disaster, such as access to translation services, notifications and communications in disaster, and how to help their members access information and resources.

Palo Alto Disaster Planning

If during a disaster there were a catastrophic event at your place of worship and communications were impaired, do you have a backup plan for requesting help from the city? Palo Alto’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) and Palo Alto Neighborhoods Emergency Services Volunteers (PAN-ESV) invite you to come learn what the city’s plans in case of a disaster are. After a brief overview by OES, there will be a roundtable for you to share your plans, good ideas, concerns or learn from others. to discuss how faith based organizations, the city and the neighborhoods can work together to help our community before, during and after a disaster. RSVP: annette_g@att.net.
